Photointerrupter-based miniature force sensing with high linearity.

Overview

Force awareness is the foundation of dexterous manipulation. We design miniature optical force sensors based on photointerrupters — a dual-photointerrupter configuration achieves high linearity and disturbance compensation in a package small enough to embed in robotic fingertips and surgical tools.
